Old House Enthusiasts meeting June 10, 2010 Picnic at Eagle Point Park
Called to order at 7:10 p.m.
Guests welcomed: Kay Halko and Joe Ungs whose homes were showcased on our tour.
Home Tour follow-up:
Reported $ 8400 takeaway from the tour
Gifts have been given to our participating homeowners.
Kay Kluseman has volunteered to be chairperson for next year's tour.
We are looking for ideas for next year. Email Kay if you have any ideas.
Social Committee
Phyllis has volunteered to be our social committee for next year. She also has requested volunteers to host about the upcoming Ragbrai participants. About 50 people will need overnight accommodations and a place to shower. It would be for one night, July 31st. Please call Phyllis if you would be interested.
Program
Dick pointed out our Park Bench which we donated to the Park. It is located outside the Bridge Room. He also gave us a brief history of Eagle Point Park and the wonderful Prairie School designs incorporating wood and stone reflecting the environment of the park.
Jay reported that students and Four Mounds have restored or rebuilt 10 doors for the Bridge room property as well as painting the wood back to original dark brown color. Also, the building is being restored back to its original plan and all LED lighting has been incorporated in the design.
New Business
Nominating committee formed. Phyllis volunteered to chair the committee along with Cynda Welu and Marie Nadeau.
August is the month for election of new officers. Positions available are President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.
Chris Keister is interested in the treasurer position and Kay Kluseman has expressed interest in the Secretary position. We need more volunteers for these important positions.
Meeting adjourned about 7:40 p.m. Picnic and social time followed.
