JUNE 2008 NEWSLETTER/May Minutes

May 22, 2008 Meeting
Dubuque Public Library

The Meeting discussions centered mainly on this year’s tour results.

Treasury Status
May beginning balance $6,837.79.   After a Tour Revenue of $10,839 plus Dues and Ad income minus Tour Expenses leaves a May ending balance of $17,038.43.   Note some tour expenses remain to be paid.

House Tour
This year’s tour was one of our best ever with over 1,000 paid visitors.   We express our appreciation to all those who helped make the Tour a success.   The Tour Committee has sent out thank you notes to business supporters.   Please help patronize our supporters and thank them personally.   Ticket holder names were drawn for prizes.

Grant
We discussed the following potential grant recipients:
  Ham House Costumes
  Dubuque Library Renovation
  Farmer’s Market Bench
OHE Book on Past Tour Homes based on Web Site Info
We also discussed stipends to homeowners to be made as expressions of our appreciation.   These and other potential grant recipients will be voted on at our June 12th meeting.

Web Site
John has turned the past tour info on the site into a valuable resource with homes sorted by address and house style.   He’s looking for input on some of the house styles; also any photos or facts from our 2008 tour.   There’s an interesting graph on the site showing web visits averaging 2,000/week for months prior to the tour and then for the week just prior to the tour jumping to 12,000 visits.

June Meeting
Our June 12th Meeting will be held at the Mindframe Theater on the Mall starting at 6:00 PM with a catered meal @ $6.00 per person.   There will be short Dubuque History Documentary followed by a meeting and socializing.   Please RSVP to Diane Schulz  doggygruff@mchsi.com.   During the meeting we’ll review the results of the tour, select grant recipients, and discuss ways to build on our tour success.   This is the end of year meeting so please consider serving as an officer or committee person; our future success depends on it.
