April Meeting

Our April meeting convened at the beautiful home of club President Diane Schulz. The brick Queen Anne at 1045 West 3rd Street was built in 1896 by an undertaker. It was featured in our 1993 House Tour – so you can read more details on our website.

Our guest speaker was Dr. Richard Barker from Big Muddy Ghost Hunters. Dr. Barker spoke about the book he’s currently writing, Haunted Dubuque. He noted that two Dubuque buildings enjoy national reputations for being haunted: the Ham House (which he said is probably NOT haunted) and Five Flags (which likely IS). If you’d like more information on paranormal activity in the area, they have a website.

Business meeting

President Diane Schulz called the meeting to order at 7:50pm. She welcomed our guest speaker, Dr. Barker, and thanked Jackie, JoAnn & Jim and Kristen for beinging treats.

President Diane Schulz reported that our current balance is $7043.88. She reminded everyone that our non-profit application is will cost $850 and this expense was not yet included in the balance.

We will meet there for our June picnic this year. Dick also noted a change in policy at Habitat for Humanity – they now re-hab existing buildings instead of just building new ones. If you know anyone with Habitat for Humanity, tell them we think this is great!
