Building History/ Future – The building was once an administration center during Dubuque’s Woodworking Heydays. Wall Murals show wood industry processes from harvesting raw materials to finished products. Stuart Mabusth described his and Mary’s plans to convert the building into a multi-faceted music center which would include lessons, sales, and productions. Thanks Stuart & Mary for bringing new hopes to an old building (and old people).

Program – OHE Club member Bruce Oestreich gave a presentation about the uses for salvaged lumber. He had examples of a variety of woods including unfinished and finished redwood that was reclaimed from a Hog Shed. He brought a beautiful cedar hope chest as an example of his handiwork. Bruce showed us a piece of unusual moulding, (from his 1869 house on St. Mary’s St.), which he has duplicated. Bruce has a woodshop at which he can provide a variety of restoration services. Thanks Bruce for both your fine presentation and helping sustain the environment by bringing old wood back to life.

May Meeting – Our May 22nd Meeting will be on the 2nd Floor of the Dubuque Public Library. The Meeting will run from 6:30 to 8:30 and will primarily be concerned with House Tour follow-up and future goals.
Our June 12th Meeting is the end of year and start of new year. New and old members are encouraged to participate. Remember to bring a $15 check for your dues.
