Our last meeting was the Christmas Party so no formal minutes were kept.
Our next meeting is January 10th at Mount Carmel.
OHE JANUARY 2008 NEWSLETTER
The December 13, 2008 OHE Meeting was our club's annual Christmas Party.
It was held at David & Julie Lotts' home on Alpine.
Among other things it was an opportunity for members to celebrate, reflect on last summer's tour,
and view all of the tasteful improvements the Lotts' have made to their home.
Thanks again to David & Julie for sharing their home with us.
The only regular club business conducted during the Christmas Party was passing out
the sign up sheets for our May 17th & 18th House Tour.
Three of the homes have had coordinators and some shift workers sign up:
The Clemen Home 1030 Grove Terrace, Dale K. coordinator;
The Breitbach Home 1209 Prairie St., The Schrobilgens coordinators;
The Fautsch Home 596 W 11th, The Wainwrights coordinators.
Two homes need coordinator and worker sign ups:
The Bradley Home 1125 Highland
The White Home 1300 Walnut.
Tour sign up sheets will be available at our January Meeting for coordinators and shift workers.
Two other topics for discussion at our January Meeting will be:
the Club's Website updates
Non profit status progress.
These two modern tools can enable us to better carry out our mission of keeping alive historic home styles
and construction techniques. They help us make our documents and graphics available to the general public.
Of course to make these things happen membership time and funding is needed.
Check out our web site which has recently been revised, updated, and has greater information handling capability.
It can be found both at dbqohe.org and at our old address.
Some expenses were incurred in transitioning to the improved web site.
Thanks to John Martin and Keisha Wainwright for all of the efforts they have put into web site improvements.
Our January 10th Meeting will be held at 7:00 at Mount Carmel, Caritas Center, 1130 Carmel Dr.
As you exit Grandview to the left on Carmel Dr., travel about a block in, there's a Caritas sign
and a drop off area with parking both off road and along the road.
The plan is to have a 45 minute tour at 7:15 with the meeting and social to follow.
This year the BVM Sisters celebrate 175 years, for much of that time the Sisters were involved in education
in the Dubuque Area.
Treats to be provided by: Tom & Cinda Welu, Joanne Georgulis, and Dick Vorwald.
This year is also the 175th anniversary of the City of Dubuque and with all of the historic festivities planned it will be a great year for the OHE!
Please pass on the good word, Dick
