This action forced the sale of the house to Graves.
However, on 7/18/1863, the Sheriff, C J Cummings stated there was still a balance of $1100 owed.
It would seem that Platt borrowed the money to build the house from his older brother in addition to $6,200 in other debts.
When his brother foreclosed, he was forced to sell.
This would put the total investment in the property at around $9,000 in 1863.
That represents a 2006 value of $150,000
